He was still smiling with amusement when the bomb was dropped on him.
"What?" She couldn't have said what he thought she just said. He became a
bit flustered, "You found Megan in here?" He was flabbergasted to say the
least. He stood and moved over to her, putting his hands on her shoulders
and
standing behind her.
"Julia, I'm sorry, I had no idea anything like this would happen. I'll have
a talk with her."
"We had a talk," she admitted, wondering if her hands would shake as badly
as she suspected they would if she tried to pour him some coffee "While she
was getting dressed. I don't think it did any good considering her
performance when you got here, but..."
She turned to him and raised her chin in a way he was well familiar with by
now that meant she wasn't playing around with whatever subject she was
dealing with at the moment "We did have a talk. And you'll be surprised to
know she got out of here in one piece and without me raising my voice once."
She sighed and stepped into his arms, putting her cheek against his chest
"And even then all I wanted was to make sure you were okay. I didn't care
that she was throwing herself at you. I just wanted to touch you and make
sure."
But there had also been other people around. Alex and Nick knew already...
but she hadn't even been introduced to Derek's mother. Julia wasn't about
to get emotional in front of her or Sloan, even if she probably had on her
way to the kitchen.
