Julia grinned, almost immediately forgetting about Cross and focusing on
Derek. She reached up and kissed him gently, whispering to him "Forget him,
your wife and child want a little cake."

She then looked at the others and joked with them "Okay okay, pipe down..
where's that knife."

"Awwwww," she smiled when she found it, wrapped with ribbon "This is cute."

She moved her hair back and made sure the floral wreath and the ribbons on
it weren't in the way and then wiggled her eyebrows at Derek, poising the
knife over the cake so that he could put his hand over hers and press down
to cut the first slice.

Forgetting him was not all that easy, but he managed a smile and shook his
head in mock disapprove. "I don't think I want my child eating dessert
before she eats dinner." He then slid his hand on top of hers and closed it
gently. "Are you ready," he asked before guiding her hand to make the first
slice.
