Away from the commotion, Amber cleared her throat
and grinned at Kristin. She knew this wasn't the time
to bring up the subject, but she couldn't help it, and
it was definitely a tactic to try to get herself under
control. Her hands were shaking after seeing things
starting to happen outside. "Philip seems very nice,"
she said, waiting for Kristin's reaction.
Swallowing, Kristin forced herself not to react too much. "Yes, he
is." she said carefully, realizing that it hadn't worked; she could
feel the heat rising in her cheeks already.
Startled, she half-turned as she heard Philip bellow for Derek. "Oh
no," she whispered. "Cross has started already."
Turning back to Amber, she tried to think of anything else to say
that wouldn't be about Philip; could Amber see things this clearly?
