Amber couldn't help but smile at Kristin's
reaction, and let out a little laugh. Then, letting
her smile fade, she asked "Should you go check that
out? We can have this conversation later," she said,
cracking another small smile. "Just don't think I'm
biting on the innocence thing, and that you're going
to get out of this." It felt good to act like herself
again, even if just for a second.
Eyes shadowed with concern, Kristin debated with herself. Philip's
yell had been angry; she decided that she should just stay put-out of
the way of the council for as long as she could.
"No, I think they can handle things without me right now;" she gave a
low chuckle. "Between Nick, Philip, Derek and Julia, well, I wouldn't
want to be on the receiving end." she envisioned Cross' expression
knowing that he WAS going to be on that end of things.
Her heart sank as Amber's words settled in. What had she seen or
guessed? She was glad to see that Amber was acting more like herself
than she had since arriving; Kristin was determined not let Amber fold
back in on herself so she wasn't about to call a halt to where-ever
this conversation was heading. But, she would try her best to play
'dumb' to what she thought Amber was getting at. Besides, maybe she
was wrong; maybe the guilt she had over her feelings were making her
think everyone knew when they really didn't.
"Get out of what?" she asked, throwing a puzzled look on her face.
