Derek gave Sloan a grateful nod and then turned his attention to the two
girls. In a low voice he said. "What exactly did you two think you were
doing?"
Kat looked up at him, her eyes growing large, especially when she noticed
that her mother was amongst them. "I....just wanted to know what was going
on. Tha man took my mom away and said I couldn't come and didn't say why
and then I saw something happen that upset Julia....so..."
"You were told not to come here," Derek said to her. "There was a good
reason for that..." he ran a hand through his hair and looked at Rachel.
Then he looked at Amber, who seemed rather pale and shaky, the tirade he was
about to unleash on her slipped out of his mind at that sight. "Amber...I
want to speak with you about this later," he told her trying not to sound
too threatening. He then looked at Kat. "Katherine," his anger came back
now. Kat didn't even seem to realize she had had done anything
wrong...."I'll leave you to your mother," he said finally .
