"A lot of good it did you though." It laughed slowly, raising it's hand and,
in effect, raising an unseen barrier between her and the others.

Julia stood her ground, gazing back at the Being with an unflinching
expression. There was no way It would see her frightened.

Soulchaser ran foreward to attack the demon, but was sent flying back
against a tree as the rising barrier met him square in the face. Grunting,
he picked himself up. Taking the broken singlasses off, his eyes were now
glowing rerad with energy. Slowly, he walked toward the invisible wakk of
psychokenetic force between them and Julia and the demon and began pacing
around the edge. "Keep back," he instructed to the other party members. He
had been able to survive contact with it, but a human might not be so lucky.

He knew that the fallen one wouldn't kill Julia. He had to trick her into
giving over the key first. Knowing that Julia would not be easily fooled,
The Soulchaser trusted her to hold out long enough for him to find a
weakness in the barrier. Striking there would bring the whole thing down.
