His gaze and tone was sympathetic "We'll come back for him. As soon as we drop off the others at the hospital. I promise. Come on."
And with that he left, not knowing what else to really say. Nick's voice sounded like it was far away as Bryce looked upon the remains of his father. His complection grew pale and his eyes were wide with horror, disbelief, and sadness. He didn't cry though. He wanted to, but somehow he couldn't bring himself to bawl out. It wasn't becasue he was callous, either, the emotion was there, but irt refused to release itself. It seemed to gather up in the pit of his stomach. Tears welled up on his eyes, but refused to flow. Bryce came closer to the body. He had to be absolutely sure that what he saw was real. The stench was bad, but The photographer's senses were so numb that he could not even register it. He reached into his father's pocket and pulled out his wallet. In the wallet was his father's driving liscence, Membership cards, a MasterCard, $12.13, and the proof that Bryce was looking for, a worn out photograph of himself and his mother. Even after their falling out, His Dad had kept the picture in his billfold. Closing the wallet and placing it in his own pocket, Bryce turned and quickly walked, almost running, out of the cave. Before he re-emerged into the arctic sun, one of the tears managed to escape his reluctant eye. Without a word Bryce climbed up into the chopper. For a moment he lookesd around at the other passengers, and almost said something. Unfortunately, the words fell apart before they left his lips. Swallowing hard, he fastened his safety belt and buried his face in his gloves. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
