While that is strictly true of course I am pretty certain that in this instance the reasoning behind the GB code is not coming from any misunderstanding of that nature, in this case GB is in fact the correct ISO 3166 country code for the United Kingdom see ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 technically speaking the ccTLD for the UK is also .gb as they are derived from the same standard .uk was reserved under an exceptional reservation partly there was a time both were used .

Heh, that's getting off on a side track though just seemed a relevant point at the time.
