Thanks Fabian,
I'm intending to run the NTP server behind a DD-WRT router on my cable
link. The device has 16Mb ram total. Will it be enough to keep my internet
connection and handle the traffic of the NTP or should I consider having a
router with a bit more memory - 256MB or 1GB? I'm thinking of setting some
rate limiting PF rules on the NTP box itself as a way to prevent the basic
abusers.
Would it be handy to subscribe for a dyndns service and having an extra
VLAN on which to put the NTP server? Has anyone experience with running NTP
service over Wi-Fi as a medium? How you handle thunderstorms and similar
hazards? I got a glass roof window through which the signal can probably
pass, but I'm concerned about lightnings.
Once you pick your servers you don't need to put extra restrict statements
about them unless you want to grant the remote peer some extra privileges
right?
Thanks!
