Well spotted. When I reinstalled linux after my disaster, I did not
remember to check whether I had the same selinux settings as previously.
I have now (at least temporarily) turned off selinux, and the build process
gets much further, then crashes because of a problem with ncurses, which
reminds me of an earlier discussion of ncurses problems by Waldek.

It turns out that I have ncurses, but not ncurses-devel, which I'll now try to
install, though at present it seems that the relevant server is not accessible
on the laptop:

[Could not resolve host: mirrors.fedoraproject.org]
But it is accessible from my desktop PC so I have to do something about
accessing the fedora server.
It sounds as if that should be simple...
I'll report later.
