Well, I was semi-serious.

Consider iName and usa.net (Net@Address). NetAddress was a pretty good
service when I first got an account there. Then it just degenerated
and then they had the unmitigated gall to charge for their awful
service.

Of course, iName is a special case, but originally they let you try
their accounts for free and then the service got worse and they too
started to charge you for it.

I have had great free pop3 accounts that the service decided after time
to charge their users. That is a lost account in my way of thinking.

Let's see...how long has Yahoo offered POP3? Two...three years? And
here we begin to see some serious server problems.

MailandNews got bad after two years but to their credit, they improved
their service a great deal. You have to give them their due. :-)

For those on our list that have or have had experience with accmail,
you know that accmail servers come and go. It can be the same way with
free, remote pop3 servers. Some just fold up. Some begin to charge
for the services. It is the nature of the beast.
