FYI - I saw American Psycho a few weeks ago and enjoyed the film. It
follows like a precis of the book-- bringing out its essence. There
are a few things in the book the film doesn't stress. However, I
didn't think their absence hindered the film in any way. I liked the
book when I read it-- although I know a lot of people who don't much
care for it. I get the impression it was received better in Europe
than in America for various reasons. See the movie, I don't think you
will be disappointed. Christian Bale is amazing in the role of
Patrick Bateman and the supporting cast is strong as well.
