Yes, that is correct.  The data is changed, but not the appearance stream (AP). 
  As per ISO 32000-1:2008, viewers use the AP to render the field values.

Seems like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44506. My first guess 
is that it's because we don't change the associated appearance stream.


I'll try to find out more in the next days.
