did you find out how to change the associated appearance stream meanwhile?
Is there any work in progress or how can I resolve that by myself,
respectively?

Seems like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44506. My
first guess is that it's because we don't change the associated
appearance stream.
I'll try to find out more in the next days.
