Good day,
I purchased a new server two days ago so that I can help test applications
like OpenOffice, Asterisk, and gCompris. It has Core 2 Duo 6400, 4GB of
RAM,
reasonable disk space etc.
Compiling the kernel took about 25 minutes.
After rebooting, building userland took 9 hours and 15 minutes
After rebooting, Building X took 4 hours and 6 minutes
I followed the excellent documentation very closely, so there were no
errors.
However, what if anything, can be done to make the builds go faster? I did
purchase the wrong video card (e-GeForce 7300 GT) -- did not realize it is
not supported by X 6.9.0, would that have any impact on build times?
I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me some suggestions on
making
the builds go faster.
