i think the fact that openbsd uses cvs has hampered its development drastically. i can't prove that. i do think if it started to use git everywhere, maybe with something like forgejo (as well as a mailing list), then the project would become much more accessible to contributors.

i really just hate cvs. i hate it so much that i'm planning to write a program that converts my git patches into cvs patches, so that Landry is happy and doesn't have to do less work. then i get to keep using git.

cvs is slow, and really hard to use. of course, for openbsd's branchless development model, git's branching features don't really mean much, but still.

openbsd is amazing, and i think it would be even more amazing if people could contribute to it more easily. none of the modern developers i speak to use cvs. none. it's all git nowadays.
