I've been experimenting with 4.5 current on some newer hardware. It's working great. I'm using ports.tar.gz from 2-28-2009. I plan to buy 4.5 release when it comes out, but I may be too lazy to install it as what I'm using is working very well.
So my question is how long can I use these 4.5 -current machines with that ports tree I have without having problems? I don't plan to track changes in -current or changes in ports.tar.gz... I just want to use what I downloaded on 2-28-2009 for about a year or so. Twelve months from now if I try to make install from a ports folder on one of these systems, will I be OK? Just curious as I've never done this before. If the answer is "No!" then I'll just install -release when my CDs come... but it seems I should be able to do this without problems.
