It's not a question of bothering or being impolite, it's just a matter
of not duplicating efforts :) Check the diff i sent, and see if it differs
a lot from what you have..

Btw, i won't enable threads in gdal yet, i rechecked and upstream still
doesn't consider most of the drivers threadsafe.
