Thanks to all. I decided to look at the mail queue at this moment. There are 4 messages listed. Then I went to find what's in /var/run/postfix. There are 4 messages in defer/* and they match the mailq entries. However, there are 1179 messages in deferred/*. Most are dated in 2017, but there are 4 from today. They are in both defer and deferred. They match the mailq entries. Why would there be 1175 messages in deferred with no defer entry?
