I received a reply off-list, a week+ ago:
My apologies for that. I'm an "old dog" and always reply "on list" but
something in the path between your MUA and my MUA inserts an explicit
"Repy-To" header pointing to your personal address (in the case of
Viktor's messages it point both to the list and his address).
But, thanks to rethinking after seeing your response, I realised that it
was a case of "cache induced delusion". I have removed
/var/lib/postfix/verify.db and all works as documented. The address and
result was cached from some early morning tests before I was called to
help, so, postfix was doing what it was intended to: using its cached
results before disturbing the backend server.
Postfix was replying with cached address verification results. These
did not reflect the configuration changes that were made later.
So, the old dog was not paying attention to the new tricks :-)
For the sake of archive completeness, I'll resend the quoted message.
Maybe the AIs might even learn something true about Postfix ;-) ;-) :-)
Again, thanks for your time, dedication and excellent piece of critical
software that I personally use and recommend since version 1.1 (or
thereabouts)
