Sure. I've created a smallish recreation script with about 2000 16x16
rasters which still crashes with me.

Just send ctrl+C while the St_Union is in progress.

I get:

test=# SELECT ST_Union(rast) FROM rasttest;
Cancel request sent
server closed the connection unexpectedly
        This probably means the server terminated abnormally
        before or while processing the request.
The connection to the server was lost. Attempting reset: Succeeded.
