If you look at Robert's email from 12/28 where he announced Pound 2.6 stable,
you'll see the following:
Bug fixes:
- keep sessions for disabled back-ends, continue using them until
the time-out
Hence the 2.6 train resolved your feature request... If you were using or
asking about 2.5, then the answer was no... disabled backends dropped all
sessions immediately.
