Yes, the batch file does

set [EMAIL PROTECTED] show filters | grep "#1"]

and examines whether %status is empty or not.

That would be useful. How does one ask a running PPro to do
something from within a batch file?

I have worked around the problem using nice features of both 4NT and
PPro. The batch (now) file does

  set /s ipsec_icon=<appropriate icon_file>

That variable goes into the "system" (/s) environment; PPro
graciously (and quickly) updates it's own environment and I can use
%ipsec_icon% in the PPro button's command specification. Your
solution (I didn't know it was possible) would be much better.

Thanks ... Vince
