Might be worth contacting the laptop manufacturer to let them know there are Firefox supporters losing out on this great feature. They may be able to fix it. Also you could check Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/) to see if the Mozilla crew have done/can do anything about this one too.
