That's pretty much what I have set up on my computer. I have stored a 
number of logins and passwords in an .ini-file which is encrypted 
with AxCrypt (http://axcrypt.sourceforge.net) which I think is a 
pretty good and easy-to-use (open source) encryption software.
Every time a password is needed, e.g. for logging into this group by 
a macro the ini-file is decrypted, the password is read and then the 
file is encrypted again. For decryption and encryption a "master 
password" is necessary, which has to be entered into a password 
dialog (made with PPro BTW). The password is stored as a static when 
it is first entered.
This setup sure has its weaknesses (password stored in memory, file 
is decrypted on the disc for a short time) but maybe a bit better 
than ini-files under the matress...
