After some more testing: The problem of finding the handle of the child window is now solved by the new win.getfocus. Thanks Bruce :-)
At least it works if win.getfocus is included in the command or in the More commands of a hotkey. It also works if it is included in a script file run from a hotkey. It doesn't usually work if it is in a script run from a menu item, where the menu drops down from a bar button. I guess after the bar is focussed, it cannot retrieve the previously focussed child window. That's not a major inconvenience to work around. If necessary, the script could refocus the target with window.show() first (not tested). However there remains the problem of Window.MaxNormal(h) and Win.Maximize(h) and Win.Restore(h) working differently in different apps. I found when attempting to use these commands on child windows: In Atlantis, you can Restore a maxxed child window but you cannot maximize a non-maxxed window. I gather that Slawomir found the opposite in EditPlus - you can maximise but not restore. In Ultraedit, neither works as expected. I guess that means that different apps have different ways of implementing MDI so it will be difficult to find a general method which will work for all MDI apps. ------------------------ Yahoo!
