Alan> ... I shall uploaded three "beta" .icl files soon ... sgp> Thank you. Could you also describe how to set them up?
Start Microangelo Librarian. File New. Save as name.icl. Then either: [a] drag and drop .ico files from your file manager into Mike Librarian. They will be added to the .icl. or [b] Edit menu: New icon. That will open Mike Studio. Then paint, or copy and paste images from an .ico file which you have open in another Mike Studio window, or parts from an image in an image editor. When finished in Studio, do File Menu: "Update Librarian and exit" _________________________________________________ Tips about 256 color palettes: With 8 bit icons, you need to load or make a suitable .pal palette. There is a Default.pal in the Microangelo folder. That is the .pal which I used in sets A and B. Set C uses my own custom palette I made for that set. You can retrieve it by loading any icon from set C into Mike Studio then save its palette as a .pal file, which you can load into your new icons. To load and save palettes in Studio, click the down arrow in the top right corner of the "Palette" child window. Or find an icon which already has a suitable palette, then edit its image and save as... Loading a new palette scrambles your existing image, so load the palette before pasting or editing. ________________________________________ sgp> And maybe the option of changing buit-in icons still sgp> remains open-- without rushing into it? I still remember sgp> the strange effect that the default icons made on me sgp> the first time I installed ppro... Please correct me if the following is wrong Bruce: I gather Bruce's plan is to change the exes' internal icons to the set chosen in the poll. The default behaviour will be to use those new internal icons. Pproconf will no longer show the same icon as powerpro and scripts. Optionally, you can specify any suitable .icl library. If so, PowerPro will use icons from the .icl instead of using the exes internal icons. Advantages of that plan - it will not be necessary to edit the exe files. - those not interested in customising the icons don't need to get involved with .icl files. - you can quickly test run alternative icon sets from different .icl files. - anyone who makes a new icon set next year, thus missing being in the poll, can upload an .icl library and users can switch to it very easily if they wish. - there's no need to create your own .ico or .icl files; you can start from those I uploaded and edit them a little or a lot. That's far more than I dreamed of :-) I guess Bruce may need to experiment before making any of the above definite. For example: Maybe if you want Explorer to show another icon for Script files and Notes, you might need to use Regedit or the Folder Options gui. Or maybe PowerPro will change the registry DefaultIcon keys for you when you switch between .icl files. ? ------------------------ Yahoo!
