Ooooh-kay.

Have downloaded and installed 4.2. Have checked the "no date/time"
checkbox. And have opened and closed a few notes.

And I was getting optimistic...until I closed the last note, and PP
shut down again *sigh*.

So it seems the long filename isn't the issue. All the category names
are short (the longest is 9 letters), and the note-names are the first
line (a word or two). The note that closed PowerPro today has a name
that's seven letters long - all normal alphabet. PP is installed in
C:/programs/PowerPro, so that bit of the path isn't particularly long
either. It would seem that we can rule out that theory. Too bad - it
was nice and simple :-\
