Group,
With all this talk of running of a USB stick I got to thinking it sure
would be great to run PP on my work machine, but I nave have due to
the fact that they will not allow the install. I am pretty free to run
what I can without an install though.
So I copied over my home machine install of PP to my USB stick and ran
it at work. Actually ran really well, but I did encounter one problem.
At the end of the day, I typically shut down any programs running on
the PC (in this case including PP) and then do a "safe remove" of the
USB stick. That has always worked fine in the past, but today, even
though every application was shut down (noting in the task bar), I
kept getting the message "unable to shut down drive now - try again
later". Ultimately I chose to just unplug the USB stick which got me
the warning about doing that.
I am pretty sure this all has to do with PP . Any ideas? (I plan to
try the environment variable tomorrow).
Also, I probably could get around it by just shutting down the PC, but
I really prefer to just log off so I don't have to go through reboot
every morning. Have always done this and it works fine. BTW, work
environment is W2K.
Any advice appreciated.
Regards,
Bill Royal
