I don't use Avast! myself (:I'm using NOD32, which is not free unfortunately), but I observed in the system of a friend of mine that Avast! significantly delayed the executions of some hotkeys of PP which need the keyboard-hook and those of KeyTrap. Although I didn't delve into it then, I got a feeling that Avast! doesn't like or does have a problem with Keyboard/Mouse hook. And, when I told this to him, he said that some other one once complained to him that Avast! overally made his system much slower in response.
