Hi Alan, Just part of their grand buy-up of stuff over the last couple of years (aka the "We Can Beat Google!" plan)... in 2005 alone they bought: - Flickr - Hey Pix, similar to Flickr - TeRespondo, Brazillian PayPerClick ad network - Dialpad, VoIP company offering PC2PC & PC2Phone services - blo.gs, blog pinging service - Konfabulator, desktop widgets technlogy, as mentioned - VerdiSoft, technology for sharing of personal settings across devices which now forms the backbone of Yahoo!'s "Connected Life" division - Alibaba, Chinese web marketplace, incl. B2B site, TaoBao (like eBay) & AliPay (like PayPal) We're talking a billion $'s for the last deal alone! They also helped the Wikimedia Foundation out with $100,000's of financial & technical backing, & opened "Yahoo Research Labs-Berkeley", which is doing research into net-related areas including search & info navigation, online communities, and social & mobile media. It also gives them closer access to the the top grad's before Google or Microsoft get to them.. nice deal, huh. ;) Cheers Karen Attention: PowerPro's Web site has moved: http://www.ppro.org Yahoo!
