I used to be plagued by lockups, but the new beta has healed the problem
completely for me. I'm using the default wait setting, 300 ms I think.
My active bar has a bmp background and some buttons before the active buttons,
tooltips enabled.
The only issue that I've seen (once, it disappeared after the next reboot) is 
that
the active buttons portion of the bar was duplicated on screen, side by side, 
and all buttons
continued to work as expected.
