The rectangle is the bar. You have to turn off bar size from size of buttons and manually set the bar size using the 3d frame. In general, I have found that the XP version of the controls works more reliably. You get these with the manifest file (I forget to mention that you have to restart PowerPro to have this file take effect). What always works for me is - manually set button width as needed using width edit box. - manually set button height of combo boxes buttons using height edit box - manually adjust bar size The last two steps are only needed to make sure the whole drop down list appears without having a large bar. I think I have only needed them when _not_ using the manifest file. (Note that no .manifest means that different, older system dll is used and so it is understandable that it may work differently). > Has this control gotten "compiled" at some point, after which I've > tried to change its content (from "alpha|beta, etc" to "pick > one|alpha|beta, etc.") ? The combo box is created by one statement which creates a new window (of class COMBObox) and positions it in the bar, using the button position and height, and says that the bar window is the parent. I too have had the experience of the same button configuration producing different results, especially with the non-manifest version of the system dll. I guess this dll code looks at some other information, possibly the size of the bar that the combobox has been assigned to. But it is just a guess. I don't have any more ideas on how to make it more reliable for you. Attention: PowerPro's Web site has moved: http://www.ppro.org Yahoo!
