I have also had the problem under both XP SP2 and W2K SP4 on three different machines and the W2K rig is pretty clean since it is a relatively new installation. I have also disabled all the firewalls and spyware/virus checker machinery to assure that these aren't doing something to screw the pooch. Very frustrating and now I am so incensed that someone else doesn't have a problem with the thing that I am forced to figure it out. I guess my next move will be to disable all the stuff that comes up at boot time and see if that resolves the problem... unless someone out there knows something that will shortcut that potentially tedious process.
