Its just a plain Windows edit control. So you could try changing styles with dll plugin and setwindowlong/getwindowlong. No, I forgot to include those styles (ws_HSCROLL etc). This also explains why mouse does not work. Maybe you could display the text in a note positioned near the bar. Note plugin has lots of services.
