I thought one has to do a

echo -n "Y" > /sys/module/snd_ac97_codec/parameters/power_save

to enable this feature, not a "1" as mentioned before...
And do I really need to play a sound to suspend the sound card if using
the parameter instead of loading the module with the argument passed via
modprobe?
