Hello,
I'm using powertop on my laptop to try to increase its autonomy, and
I have good results using a 2.6.22rc7 kernel patched with :
- hrt1 patch (from http://tglx.de/projects/hrtimers/) to activate
"hidden" HPET off the ICH4-M chipset
- radeon patch to avoid vsync interrupt of my radeon graphic card
In this configuration, I have an idle power consumption of about 8 W,
whereas I get 10 W without these patches :-)
I've noticed also some problems :-P :
1/ the hardware clock can't be initialized : running
"/etc/init.d/hwclock.sh start" always give :
Setting the system clock..
select() to /dev/rtc to wait for clock tick timed out
And I have my clock shifted from 2 hours.
2/ The madwifi driver don't work on this kernel (as of any 2.6.22*) :
the laptop freezes very few seconds once ath_pci module is loaded.
If somebody has any tip / workaround about this, I'll be happy to test
it. It's so difficult to come back to lower autonomy once you've tested
latests kernels...
with regards,
Fred.
