Hi all, first of all thanks for this great utility: it helped me out tremendously in getting back my battery life. Just wanted to mention that ibm-acpi isn't that unfriendly, but the tools which query it might be. On my laptop having it loaded or not doesn't really change the power consumption but having tools that query it often does: for example having the fan control script with the default polling rate generates a huge amount of wakes up. Same things for the temperatures applets: if they query the ibm-acpi interface a huge number of wakeups but removing them makes my laptop very battery friendly.
