there are some desktop/miniitx sized boards that take mobile Core2's... however be careful, some of the bioses on those boards don't expose deeper C-states, which cause much higher-than-needed power consumption in idle. Unfortunately I don't have brands/models on that, but be sure to check for that somehow...
