Java application that does a fair ammount of network/disk activity, and
is intentionally hungry unfortunately. I try not to run it when mobile
for that reason.

Yes, this was while continuously playing an avi file

Which incidently I've found to be pretty much useless and therefore have
removed :o)

Indeed, incidently the USB 3G adapter itself seems to be fairly power
hungry.

You meen for example fixing it to run at 800MHz instead of letting it
auto scale?

Hmm, I've taken to going back to GTK instead of Emerald when power is an
issue.
I'll do another powertop run when I'm mobile at the end of the week, see
if this has improved things.
