Hi,

The lesswatts.org site suggests setting NoDRI to get rid of the vsync
interrupts.

First I tried the default configuration my Intel Mobile GM965/GL960
card, with intel_drv version 2.3.2.
All good, no interrupts from the video card showing up in powertop. That
is until I run glxgears.
During the run of glxgears I get high number of interrupts from the
videocard (I know OpenGL needs it for now).
BUT, after I quit glxgears, I *still* get the same high number of
interrupts, and only a restart of X gets me back to no interrupts :(

Second I tried with NoDRI, all good since running glxgears doesn't
require the vsync interrupts (its lot slower, doesn't matter I don't use
3D much).
The problem is that the backlight controls don't work anymore!
Neither with Fn+Home/End (the brightness popup from gnome appears, and
slider moves, but backlight remains constant), neither with 'xbacklight
-set'. Tried setting to 0/50/100, read back ok, but backlight not modified.
If I restart Xorg without NoDRI, the backlight setting works perfectly!
(With 2.6.28 I even have multiple brightness levels, as opposed to
2.6.26 which only had 2 levels)

Is this a bug in the intel driver, or is this a generic issue (NoDRI ->
no backlight controls)?

P.S.: should it matter, this is on a Lenovo Thinkpad X300
Best regards,
--Edwin
