Hi all, Here's one for the assembled minds on the group. When I bought my used PB170 a couple of years ago, it had a slow 2400 modem, or thereabouts, which was not working. Needing faster speed, I installed a 14.4 card in its place. That card also is not working. I left it be and went on to other things. But now that I am working to get this 170 up to speed for my wife, I am wondering if there is any specific suggestions out there as to what MIGHT be the problem with this modem. It seems to be recognized, but will not connect. Could the socket be faulty or not allowing the card to seat properly? It seemed a little spongy to me at the time. What would be a proper troubleshooting list to run through? Has anyone else had problems with the internal modem? In the next week or two I will be replacing the HD, so as long as I am in there, I might as well see to the modem, if I can. Thank you all for your continued help.
