I told them I bought the 5300cs on eBay. As long as it qualified for the
REA, they had no issue either.

None of the Apple docs restrict the REA to original owners.  When I called
Apple about my 190, I was asked how I acquired it, and I said I bought it
used.  They had no problem with that.
