Zita,
I don't remember what you were sending them in for, but it sounded like
plastics. May I suggest that you read through the TIL on the REA, again.
I do not remember that plastics or the hinges have a limit as to only one
repair. IIRC the slow start-up was due to a problem that recquired a circuit
board to be replaced, and so only needs to be performed once. Once the
problem with the circuit board is taken care over it would be covered by the
90 day repair warranty.
The REA program is specific on what it covers and specifically excludes any
thing not specifically covered. It does not list a number of times that an
individual 5300 can go through it, nor limit it to the original owner.
Although occasionally an Apple rep will imply that it can only go thru the
program once. I believe that they would rather that the 5300 go through a
authorized dealer on subsequent repairs.
I have sent four 5300s in that had been through the program before, mostly
for plactic and power jack problems, but one had a broken hinge. The could
have easily declared that one as misuse, but they repaired it under the plan.
The different markings that Apple applies from what I can tell were to notate
what portion of the program had previously been performed, as there are two
stages.
IMHO, I'd have another talk with Apple Japan. The REA program runs for seven
years and I see no written limit to how many times an individual PB 5300 can
go thru the program.
