I just picked up 2 Duo 230's from a school that was tossing them, along
with three DuoDocks. One had FoolProof installed, so I nuked and paved the
drive. I then added TCP/IP and OT/PPP. Since AppleSpec says the Duo came
with a modem, and there is a phone connector in back, I tried to use an IRC
client. PPP started but the modem never attempted to dial out. I got an
error message stating something to the effect that TCP lacked some resource
blah blah...so I tried an external GV modem. This time it tried to dial
out, but then gave me the same error message.

Is (are) there special software to access the internal modem? Any other
special things I should be doing?

Question #2: I see that batteries are $89 for a "type III" and $110 for a
"type IV." What's the difference, and can they be had cheaper?
