It might be worth a try to turn the brightness up. I learned this the hard
way when my wife claimed her PowerBook 190cs was dead; luckily I had
installed the video adapter a couple of weeks before and managed to hook it
up to a 14" Hi-Res, where it performed flawlessly. She had moved the 'book,
inadvertantly putting a finger on the "down" side of the brightness key,
switching it all down!

Try to reseat the video ribbon cable, if the above proposal doesn't help.
