Hi When i used a PC (spit ) laptop i stripped the guts out of a Freecom dvd rom drive and if memory serves me well the connectors are pretty damn similar to that of the internal zip i have in my 5300 kind of like keyboard type connectors. i will dig it out and gut it again to check the type what are they like on the 1400 someone might be able to make a frankinstien type connector that works then just swap the drive over.
