Being a student, she'll be able to get Office for academic pricing, which is
a HUGE discount from the outrageous price MS ask for Office in the regular
stores.

That said, I would recommend Office 98 over 2001 on anything below a G3.
It's just too slow to be any kind of enjoyment to work with.
