Because it's old and slow and because it has a 6Gb disk (depending on how full it is). It's also possible that it has a corrupt file but that usually causes it to not startup altogether. FileSharing is intentionally designed to limit the load on the workstation (on the assumption that someone is trying to use it) which makes it slower than a full blown AppleShare Server. There is a utility somewhere that lets you adjust the max processor load (10-90% IIRC).
