I just read somewhere (I wish I could remember where) that you shouldn't do a complete discharge/recharge any more often than monthly because PowerBook batteries have an effective "life" of around 500 cycles. Is this the consensus of the list? Admittedly, my sole experience is with the PowerBook 5xx series and their astoundingly expensive batteries. I've scrounged together several used "Intelligent" batteries for my PB 540c, and I've limited myself to the monthly regimen, using Battery Amnesia, for fear that I'd prematurely kill them and eventually have to sell my truck for a new replacement battery, assuming that I could even find one. What are the thoughts of the group? Is the 500 cycle caution just an old wives' tale? What is the optimal frequency for completely discharging and recharging our various models of batteries so as to maximize their capacity and life? Let a thousand flowers bloom; let a thousand schools of thought contend. Tyler Williams -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
